Do you have a desire to use your skills in youth ministry and discipleship?! Youth Unlimited is hiring an Outreach Worker for The Bridge Youth Centre!

The Outreach Workers goal is to connect with youth in Peterborough’s downtown core, engaging them in the vision of Youth for Christ—every young person living fully in Christ—through evangelism, discipleship, and holistic care. This role will support and be based out of The Bridge Youth Centre.

PERSONAL EXPECTATIONS
  1. Pursuing an active and growing relationship with God, including a healthy active prayer life, membership at a local church and ongoing personal study. 
  2. Participating in training opportunities that would better equip you for the job, as approved by your supervisor.
  3. Establishing relationships for personal accountability and mentoring.

DIRECT MINISTRY EXPECTATIONS
  1. Engaging in outreach and discipleship to provide youth ages 14–24 with holistic care in Peterborough’s downtown core.
  2. Leading and assisting in the development of programs at The Bridge Youth Centre for high-school aged youth (for example, drop-in programs, in-school programs, discipleship ministries, and special events).
  3. Building community with local agencies/organizations, such as Youth Emergency Shelter and PACE.
  4. One-on-one meetings with youth with genuine care for the whole person to introduce them to, and disciple them through, life with Christ.
  5. Establishing and engaging in a ministry rooted in prayer.

STAFF EXPECTATIONS
  1. Assisting in the recruitment, training and supervision of volunteers for senior youth programs and events. 
  2. Collaborating with staff and volunteers to find ways to enhance or create outreach, evangelism and discipleship efforts according to YU’s mission and vision. 
  3. Participating in staff training, Peterborough staff meetings and monthly meetings with Kawartha staff at Kawartha Connect.
  4. Involvement in fundraising events.

ORGANIZATIONAL & ADMINISTRATIVE EXPECTATIONS
  1. Personal partnership development, including securing and maintaining a sound base of financial and prayer partners to a level sufficient to fund the salary and immediate costs of this position.
  2. Creating awareness of The Bridge/Youth Unlimited programs and events in the community to both youth and the city at large. 
  3. Meeting with and being accountable to direct supervisor for planning, vision casting for ministry and fundraising.
  4. Keeping records of all ministry activities and events. 
  5. Building relationships with area churches, schools and ministries where applicable
  6. Making contacts with resource agencies in the area, striving to network with them whenever possible to support and create a strong program for PYU and be able to make referrals. 
  7. Attending to matters of the YFC Canada credentialing process.
