Youth Unlimited Kawartha

Executive Director

Description

Introduction
Come and serve where others holiday!  Considered one of the best areas in Ontario to own a home, Peterborough and the Kawarthas truly are filled with “bright waters and happy lands” - the Huron meaning of “Kawarthas”. Music, arts and sporting activities, indoors and out, abound. We are home to Kawartha Youth for Christ / Youth Unlimited, reaching youth in our communities with the good news of Jesus since 1978.

As Executive Director you would be responsible for overseeing and supporting our staff and operations. We have a combined staff of 20 or more people with a full complement of volunteers. The Executive Director is accountable to the Board of Directors for the management and direction of the activities and affairs of KYFC, including cultivating and implementing a shared vision, raising funds for the organization’s needs, developing the Satellites, and, most importantly, ensuring the welfare of our staff who serve God’s kingdom and the needs of youth across our community. You will need to be a person of reputable Christian character, and fully support and joyfully abide by KYFC’s Statement of Faith, our Community Covenant, and our policy manuals. You will also need to be an excellent communicator, attentive to people’s needs, and good at managing time and resources.

About KYFC
KYFC has been a part of Peterborough and the surrounding area for over 40 years, beginning with hosting Christian music and outreach events in 1978. The goal of Youth for Christ, Canada has been, for 75 years, to meet the needs of young people, socially, spiritually, physically and mentally. This is expressed in our motto: “to see every young person living fully in Christ.”

KYFC is a Chapter of Youth for Christ Canada and is structured in three levels. The top level is the Board, who are the ultimate stakeholders and stewards of KYFC. They define the organization’s mission and provide governance to ensure that that mission is being carried out effectively. The second level is the Operations Team, which includes the Executive Director (ED) and support staff that work directly with the ED. The Operations Team is responsible for overseeing and supporting the rest of the staff and operations. The Executive Director is directly accountable to the Board and all of the other Operational team members are accountable to the ED. The third level is the Satellites, which we currently have in Peterborough, Lakefield, Bancroft, Haliburton and the City of Kawartha Lakes (which comprises Bobcaygeon, Fenelon Falls and Lindsay). Each of these has a Satellite Director who is responsible for developing a vision and strategic plan for carrying out KYFC’s mission in their region and recruiting and equipping a team of staff and volunteers to carry out that plan. All Satellite staff are accountable to the ED, with the Satellite Directors serving as the primary supervisor of Satellite staff and the primary liaison between the Chapter and their team members.
